Street pinchos (Skewer) in Puerto Rico are the street hot dogs of L.A. or the taco stands in Mexico city. We had just arrived in Puerto Rico, Our friend picked us up and we were on our way to his house in Manati, PR. On our drive to his house it started down pouring rain for about 5 minutes and then as soon as the storm came it went away but even when the storm lasted 5 minute, the highway was flooded forcing us to drive thru the city. As we drove in the city we noticed all this little stands advertising "Ricos Pinchos" so we had to stop and try then. A very outgoing cool guy in hes 20's came to greet us and took our order. We order 2 of the must things to try when in Puerto Rico. Pinchos and a Medalla beer. The first pinchos we tried were chicken BBQ with bolillo (aka "White bread" in the U.S.; Bolillos in Latin America). They were awesome. An hour later, after a few beers and chatting with the owner of the pincho stand. He offered us the specialty of the house; "Pinchos de Marlin and Gasolina" (Sword fish skewers with an alcoholic mix drink that tastes like sangria on steroids, hence the name "Gasoline") Needless to say, it was probably the best food we ate in Puerto Rico. If you ever visit, make sure you tried this delicacy of the Caribbean.
